Normally screencaps like this wouldn’t even cross my mind. To many, it’s the run of the mill herpy-derpy screencap between movements. But I’d just like to use this to kind of point out something.
I think this just shows how worn, exhausted and stretched to the limits Sam is. Inside his head, Lucifer has been badgering him non-stop. He probably has no desire to be there and probably doesn’t want to know why Frank won’t answer the door. But he’s there because he feels obligated to be there with Dean, to find out what’s wrong, to put others first before his own needs. You can see it in his face, his expression, his body language. He reached out to Dean and told him the problem with seeing Lucifer and still feels obligated to hold up his end of the bargain/job/partnership and be there for his brother and friends.
It’s also a testament to Jared’s acting skills. I don’t think a lot of actors can pull this off and make it convincing. I think the whole driving while extremely exhausted and then passing out for a second scene was enough but he seemed, at least to me, to pull it off the whole episode. I haven’t seen the web clip for next week’s episode (and I won’t) but I’ve got a strong feeling his performance will only intensify and get better in it.
